Read, read, read!

Year 1 and Year 2 children will bring home little reading books that they have made.  Please ask your child to read them to you.
When your child gets stuck on a word PAUSE and wait to see if they can get it right by themselves.  If they can't PROMPT by asking your child to:
1.  Sound out the word.
2.  Look at the picture.
3.  Read the sentence from the beginning again.
4.  Read the rest of the sentence.

Ask your child: "what word would make sense here?"

If your child gets the word then PRAISE your child.  If your child can't get the word by themselves then tell them the word and PRAISE your child for trying.
