Red Words!

It is very important for the students to learn sight words or high frequency words.  We call these 'red words' and they include the words in English that we cannot sound out.

We learn these words in a range of different ways.  We use flash cards, write them into our books, learn them for homework using the look, cover, write method, have competitions and play games.

Here are some photos of the children using hands on activities to learn red words...

Fishing for red words.  Use a magnet to catch a red fish.  If you can read the red word then you can keep it!

SNAP and Memory Games.
Threading letters on to pipe cleaners to make red word bracelets.
